Not producing trade show video?

No trade shows? No problem!

Let's face it marketing your business and products changed drastically with Covid social distancing restrictions. Overnight almost all scheduled trade shows were postponed indefinitely.

Many of our clients stopped producing trade show video entirely. This is a big mistake in their marketing strategy. There are many other uses for video production other than just at your booth at the exhibition hall.

This article discusses some the benefits of producing video content now -and- additional uses of trade show video which can be gained later once things open back up.

What are your goals for your trade show video?

If we start with this simple question the rest becomes more obvious. The logical answer is to give your show attendee's something to look at when in front of your exhibit booth. A trade show video is an opportunity to show attendee's something at the event to peak their interest in your new product or services on your video screens.

It's also an opportunity to show a visitor something that would be hard to bring to the convention center. One of our clients makes wheel sets for freight train cars. It's almost impossible for them to bring a "bogie" in. However a tradeshow video allows their clients to see manufacturing and usage. It's a way to demo to your audience and provide them an immersive experience. That video is below.

Video production will give your booth staff an opportunity to talk to potential customers, answer questions and gather info for later sales efforts.

Marketing and sales opportunities is really what the trade show video is about. Is that really different from the goals for other videos you might produce?

Corporate video or trade show video? Is there much of a difference?

With slight "tweaks" your trade show video can be used for additional purposes. And don't forget your corporate videos can also be used on your video wall. Whether playing on a large screen in your booth or "pushed" through social media, video allows you to display your company in a crafted, specific and "repeatable" way.

Do you sent e-blasts to your client's on a regular basis? There is no better way to distinguish your brand than video. Include a link to a video to show your newest product demo, level of service, customer testimonial or FAQ.

Do you have online video on your website? Every business should have an explainer video front and center on their website. It's an easy way to explain what you do and who you do it for.

All of these types of video production can be produced in advance and used in your marketing efforts. Later they can be put on a "playlist" and played on your digital signage at shows. We often add captions so that viewers can also read spoken word at a loud tradeshow. Take your company videos and play them at your exhibit booth. Produce once, use in many ways...

A few of our clients have been hosting web based virtual event. At this point we are all "web conferenced" out. Instead of just sharing boring slides with your viewer you could add video which would make this a more watchable experience.

Some of our clients have indicated that they will continue to do a virtual event even once we have no Covid restrictions. Reason being, they are able to get potential clients to sign up for a presentation without the time needed to travel or the expense. Again, video content could be used to make this a better experience for the attendee.

Conclusion

Video production should be a part of your marketing strategy regardless of any public health concerns. It is a way to provide viewers with video content to inform and educate about what you do.

Eventually we'll be back to meeting again at tradeshow events. I encourage you to begin video production now, your corporate communications, marketing and sales departments will thank you.
